South Deerfield is part of the town
of Deerfield. It was named in the 1930's and is host to thriving businesses as well as a
large residential area.
The view from Mt.
Sugarloaf is spectacular and overlooks the Connecticut River to the East. Nearby are the
towns of Sunderland to the East and Whately to the West.
The view to the West from Mt. Sugarloaf
shows off the glory of the New England landscape.
South Deerfield
is the home of many tourist stops, including Yankee Candle Company, the largest
distributer of scented candles in New England.
With so much to do in the area, tourists
return year after year to enjoy their favorite stops and activities.
August is
strawberry season and with numerous "pick your own" farms it is a fun event for
families to enjoy together. If you are not in the mood to pick, there are many stands
along the roadsides.
