Around the Inn
you'll find a New England barn and carriage shed, lots of room to stroll and even guided
hunting and fishing trips for the adventurous.
This door, again
typical of the Federal Period, greeted many a guest stopping to relax while traveling the
Post Road to Bennington, Vt. Tradition has it that the shallow M worn into the stepping
stone leading up to the terrace is the sign of wear from stagecoach wheels pulling up
close to the doorway. Whether that's legend or fact is difficult to ascertain.
